The National Logistics Academy and Mantra Learning join CILT as largest ever Corporate Academic Partners

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is pleased to announce that leading training providers to the logistics sector, The National Logistics Academy and its parent company Mantra Learning have joined CILT as Corporate Academic Partners. This is the Institute’s largest academic partnership and over the next three years, it is expected to lead to more than 2,700 student members joining CILT.

Mantra Learning has been supporting the skills needs of the logistic sector in the North West for over 50 years. In July 2016 Mantra launched The National Logistics Academy to provide training, apprenticeships and workforce development to large, levy paying national logistics employers through a nationwide network of 26 highly experienced, specialist logistics training providers. This network has 50+ locations in England, Scotland and Wales and a combined resource of 500 staff. It provides the full range of logistics training courses and career development programmes including: Driver CPC, Transport Manager CPC, ADR, LGV licence acquisition training and logistics apprenticeships for both new and existing employees.

As part of this Academic Partnership, The Academy is now a CILT accredited training centre. Their first CILT accredited course, the Transport Supervisor Apprenticeship provides a platform for Transport Planners to step up to becoming a Transport Supervisor and manage the transport operation effectively. The 13 month Level 3 standard provides a blended delivery of classroom based theory with practical activities, giving individuals the confidence to apply their skills and knowledge to the job.

Mark Currie, CEO of both The Academy and Mantra Learning said: “The Mantra group has a mission to further the professionalism and capability of people working in the logistics sector. A mission that is closely aligned to that of CILT. Through the Academic Partnership we can provide our students and apprentices with the skills and opportunities to advance their careers to the benefit of themselves, their employers and the sector as a whole. By funding the first year’s CILT membership the Academy and Mantra aim to inspire our apprentices to embark on a journey of continuing professional development throughout their career in logistics.”

Graham Sheen MILT, Corporate Sales Executive, CILT, said: “We are delighted to have The Academy and Mantra Learning on board as our biggest Corporate Academic Partner ever. As the need to respond to the challenges of today’s demanding environment, training providers like these are pivotal to making our sector more efficient and more effective. Over the next three years, we will work together to support their apprentices and help fill the skills gap that our profession is facing.”

Corporate Membership of the Institute provides organisations with access to a suite of market intelligence databases, benchmarking services, places at premier networking events, training facilities together with the standard benefits of CILT membership.
