Capability Recognition achievements for Babcock Logistics Team

12 December 2023/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Logistics & Supply Chain

Babcock’s Naval Nuclear Logistics team at its Devonport facility, have been recognised for their continued efforts to empower employees and improve development programmes, having successfully achieved Advanced Recognition, against standards set through CILT(UK).

Babcock collaborated with CILT (UK) to develop the Capability Recognition programme and became the first organisation to achieve Enhanced Capability Recognition, in 2020. Since then, the team at Devonport have continued to develop their expertise, and are now only the second organisation nationally, to achieve Advanced Capability Recognition.

Able, Enhanced, and Advanced are the three core principles of CILT (UK) Recognition. Each principle builds on another and requires specific criteria to be evidenced to ensure that standards are met. These standards encourage effectiveness in delivering essential programmes across logistics, transport, and supply chain operations.

To achieve Advanced Capability, the Logistics team at Babcock evidenced a number of capabilities to achieve Advanced Recognition, such as a continuous improvement ethos, as well as creating development programmes, that improve technical skills and core workplace competencies.

Babcock’s Logistics management team were delighted to take both Fiona Palmer, Head of Education and Professional Standards, CILT (UK) and Tania Barker, CILT (UK) consultant on a tour of the Devonport Site, before presenting their evidence pack for the Advanced Capability Recognition.

Fiona Palmer commented: “The team at Babcock presented a passionate and comprehensive submission in the achievement of CILT(UK) Advanced Capability Recognition; the practices, processes and initiatives that have been implemented show a strong commitment to supporting their people in achieving individual and organisational objectives.”

Dave Tytherleigh, Babcock’s Director Supply Chain and Logistics said: “The achievement of Advanced Capability is a huge testament to the ongoing work and effort from the Logistics team and will help support future contract delivery.”

With Advanced Capability achieved, Babcock’s Devonport Logistics team will now be looking to positively build on their relationship with CILT (UK) by moving from corporate member status to a partnership with the institute.
